Effective [ EFFECTIVE DATE ]
This policy explains what personal information 99Cupid collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what you can do about it. We've tried to write it in plain language rather than legal boilerplate.
99Cupid is operated by 99 Cupid, a sole proprietorship registered in Ontario, Canada (1001751261). For the purposes of Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) and, where it applies, the EU and UK GDPR, we are the party accountable for your information. Our privacy contact is admin@99cupid.com.
Who you're interested in meeting can reveal your sexual orientation, which some privacy laws (including the GDPR) treat as a special category of information requiring your explicit consent. We ask for this directly during setup, separately from the rest of your profile, and only use it to show you compatible members and them you. You can change or remove it at any time in your settings.
We do not collect or store your full payment card details. Payments are processed by our payment provider, who receives your card information directly. We receive only a confirmation that payment succeeded, plus the last four digits and card type for your records.
Where GDPR applies, our legal bases are: performance of a contract (operating your account and subscription), legitimate interests (safety, fraud prevention, improving the service), legal obligation, and consent where we ask for it, for example, for who you're interested in meeting, non-essential cookies, or optional marketing.
Your profile (including your display name, photos, age, and city-level location) is visible to other members of 99Cupid. You can limit how precisely your location is shown in your settings. Do not put anything in your profile that you would not want a stranger to see. We never display your email address, date of birth, exact location, or payment information to other members.
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us operate, and only as far as they need it:
We may also disclose information where we are legally required to, or where it is necessary to investigate fraud, protect someone's safety, or enforce our terms.
99Cupid is operated from Canada and our service providers may store or process data in Canada, the United States, or elsewhere. Where information is transferred out of the EEA or the UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses. By using the service you understand that your information may be processed in countries with different privacy laws than your own.
Wherever you are, you can ask us to:
If you are in the EEA or UK, you also have the right to restrict or object to certain processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. If you are in Quebec, you have additional rights under Law 25, including the right to data portability and to be informed about automated decision-making.
To exercise any of these, email admin@99cupid.com. We respond within 30 days.
We use encryption in transit, hashed password storage, and access controls to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach occurs that creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify affected users and the relevant regulators as the law requires.
99Cupid is strictly for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that an account belongs to a minor, we delete it and its associated data. See our Safety and Age Policy.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, contact us first at admin@99cupid.com. You also have the right to complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or to your local data protection authority if you are in the EEA or UK.
If we make a material change to this policy we will email registered members and update the effective date above. Continuing to use 99Cupid after a change means you accept the updated policy.
